Craft and Shopping Expo:

Just a happy reminder, today is Hawk's View Golf Course's Craft and Shopping Expo. I'll be there with all the goodies in the shop!

In addition to them, my step-sister, Kim, will be there selling her photography. It's not the usual photography on cardboard, no sir! Kim and her friend, Meg, have developed a way to turn their photos into heat and water resistant tiles and coasters. Every tile and coaster feature photos taken by the two of them on their wacky, but beautiful adventures. Kimmy gifted one to me this Christmas. It is perfect. 

So, come and see us at the show. Admission is $2 per person.

Another Update

This update was a hefty one. 

I started around 7PM taking photos and listing items.

Starting July 1st, I will be working at a Farmer's Market. 

Every Friday until the end of August the shop will be in vacation mode until the mid to late evening.

If you're in the area and would like to stop by, I'll be at the Northwind Perennial Farm from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Craft Shows

Hey, guys. I just wanted to let you know that our venue canceled on us for this weekend. There will not be a show at Castle Gardens on August 28th. We should be back on Sept. 28th. Sorry, everyone.

Ugh!...

I apologize for not continuing with my update. ::sigh:: Everyone ordering anything that is new will get 10% off their purchased price because I have been so neglectful. This will be good through the 22nd of August.

On the 10th I was preoccupied with a sleep over. Isabella, my three year old niece, and Stephanie, nine year old step-daughter, were having a grand old time. Having Izzy around fills me with so much joy, and everything else just seems to fall to the wayside. Can you tell that I really want to have a child one day? I'd get a puppy, but at least with a kid they learn to clean up after themselves. We had a grand old time. The girls passed out to watching My Neighbor Totoro around 9 p.m. Oh and we had ice cream called Monster Cookie by Blue Bunny with Hershey's Syrup. That gave Peter and I time to relax and chat before bed, shortly after.

On the 11th, I made breakfast. We had scrambled eggs, blueberries, strawberries, and toast with cinnamon and sugar or jam. The girls each had a banana before breakfast. Overall, it was a healthy breakfast for everyone. Afterward, the girls played until it was ready for Izzy to go back home. We had one "trauma" for the day. Stephanie and Izzy weren't paying attention, and Izzy's hand got shut in the vanity drawer. No bleeding, no breaks just pain. It was, in hind sight, some one-on-one attention time between Izzy and me. It's not often I get just us time with Stephanie around. She has this idea that a person has to be right next to you at all times when you're over or around her. We're slowly working her out of that notion.


Today, I didn't forget, but got the migraine from hell after going out to Office Depot to make copies of a couple e-books around 12 p.m. However, they are all pretty, bound, and ready for reading. After a nap, medication, and water this migraine will not go away. The next thing to try is some caffinated tea. I've eaten, which is sometimes the cause, but it still remains. Miss Carol from River's Edge Weaving Studio has given me one other remedy option, caffeine. So it's Lady Grey Tea to the rescue! ::woosh, the kettle is now on the stove::

Tomorrow, Stephanie's grandmother will be picking her up around 1 p.m. Hopefully I will have pictures taken and a small shop update for you. lol I was planning a larger shop update, however, there is a craft fair in a little less than two weeks from now. Can't have a fair without something in supply. What a Homer moment.

Sometime tomorrow afternoon will be a shop update.

Dye Day Challenge

Status: Complete

This day was a challenge because motivation was no where in sight. I mean no where. The past month as wiped me out completely. I've still got some residual effect going on, too. To try and perk me out of this funk dye day commenced with set up @ 10 a.m. Monday.

The main goal was to replicate my favorite colorway Jellyfishing. Goal was accomplished. Jellysfishing is going to be a permenant colorway from now on. It's not nearly as pretty in superwash as in regular wools. I attempted to do another Spongebob themed one and it didn't turn out as much as I liked...it might be a Mrs. Puff colorway. The other colorways really don't have any rhyme or reason, but we'll see what names I can come up with.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to enter my July give-away. Well part one anyways. The unvieling of part two will be on July 16th. (Hopefully before I go to Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Festival.)

Something new on my blog is the Pepsi Refresh button. I urge you to help our native peoples and vote for this idea. The top two will win funding for their project. Right now we're at 74th place and voting ends on July 31st. I know we can help make a difference in these people's lives. Let's keep voting every day.

I started spinning up some batts on the Kromski Sonata this past Saturday at the Castle Gardens Nursery Craft/Antique/Flea Expo in Richmond. It's amazing how much differently the two wheels spin. It's like night and day. For now I am going back to the Sonata. I've been able to spin up two batts so far. There is still more work to be done. I'm blending two different batts together and there two more of each to go. This Saturday (7/17) I will be at the same location peddling my wares. The new colorways from this past dye day will be there and three new yarns. Also, I intend on setting up a better display than before. This expo is free to the public. If you're in the area, stop on by. We're in booth 18.

RE: Collaboration (part 2)

Alrighty, ladies and gentlemen. It's finished the Pagosa Slouch is no longer a work in progress. This is the coolest hat pattern ever. If you love the color then you will have to stop into the shop in the near future. ArtemisArtemis has sent along 12 ounces of this colorway for me to spin up.

Recently, I had a custom order from Cloudlover made up. It busted it's way into my car this afternoon! Literally, it busted. I cannot believe how much fiber she managed to put into a single bag. :D It was truly a sight to behold. What a great way to end a crazy slow work day then a bag exploding of fiber! Not just any fiber, but Cloudlover colorway fiber! It was an amazing feeling.

The order was for

•  8 ounces of Rambouillet in Passion Fruit
•  8 ounces of Polwarth in Madeline
•  4 ounces of Merino/Tencel in Copacobana
•  4 ounces of Rambouillet in R'hyel 

all of which did not include our double dose of fiber club and a second order of Meadow in SW Merino. That all was packaged into a tiny bag (2 lbs 10 oz). So when I say busting loose, I mean busting loose. It felt like a can of the joke peanuts came pouring out and it was fantastic!

Work got a little goofy towards the end of the day, however. They caught someone stealing hot dog buns and hot dogs. Apparently LP and this woman got into a fight over it. That's when about 5 police officers entered the building in a rush to find LP. First of all, no one told me that this was going on. The officers looked to me as if I knew what was going on. Yeah, I wasn't any help and I felt so confussed. It wasn't until later after talking to a couple of co-workers I knew what was going on. That was like the 7 to 10 US Marshals doing the county wide old warrant walk through and ended up at my house due to an error of address. It's never a dull moment. When it is a little dull life makes up for it in big ways.

Now that I'm home it's time to get spinning. This weekend will be my very first craft fair. It's local and in a great location for all sorts of traveling summer traffic. The biggest chore is deciding what to take with, tagging them with new tags and deciding how to set it all up. On top of that is the banner/poster board design. Thankfully work was slow and most of the design work is done. Crooks and Ewes.
