Ohio Road Trip: New Philadelphia, OH – Part IV

We made it! We are all checked in and relaxing, but not before some antique browsing at the mall behind the hotel. At the Riverfront Antique Mall we found a lot of different things, including old time fiber arts!
The fiber arts:
Some needlepoint
Yarn winder and walking wheel
A lovely tapestry
Peter found an antique boat shuttle.
Desktop Dye Container $300 FIRM (WANT!!)
The inside chart of the table top dye container.
Llama Lovin'
A mini swift
Another shuttle
Old sewing table

The Fez collection!:

 Oh, the geekery:
Collection of mint condition Star Wars action figures
More mint condition action figures.
Some odds and ends you don't see everyday:
All of these M&M pictures are for Gimpy Kozel!

Here is what Ron of Tea with Wheatley needs!

This would be awesome for our nephew, Jonathan.
"Give me gum gum, dum dum."
WWII Artillery anyone?

Bombs Away!
Some Springer paintings for Dad and Deb

A bank that Peter's brother used to have
It took a long time to go through every booth. There was a ton of colored glass and china. About one third of the building was full sets of dishes. Don't forget the tea pot collections. It's amazing how many people could have the same items. The unique stuff like the artillery is amazing, but that table top dye box from Diamond Dyes is my favorite! I really would like to have that. We don't have $300. So, unless some anonymous generous benefactor would like to purchase this within the next 12 hours for us to pick it up, I won't be picking it up.

We did score some books. Peter got some history books that are no longer in print.

I picked up three books on the Hebrew language and writing. My hope is to translate the postcards my great great grandfather wrote to his family. That side of the family were Russian Orthodox Jews. It died out with my grandfather's generation. We don't know whether they were true Jewish bloodlines or not, however, we would love to know.

Speaking of genealogy, I found this book:

Now, I may have an easier time locating records of my father's side of the family.

When we got back to the room we began watching stupid cartoons like The Regular Show. I really like that stupid cartoon.

Overall we had a good ride in, and some good times along the way. For now it is time for dinner at Denny's. Enjoy your Friday night!

Someday A.D.

I'm gearing up for the Autumn Drive.
That means three days of dyeing on a gorgeous weekend.
Will I ever see the light of day from my kitchen?
Of course!
Saturday, I have plans to meet up with Carissa of Bumblebee Acres at the Woodstock Farmers Market.
I hope to accomplish some spinning and much needed down time.
Then it's back to the dye pots.

~*~

Thus far the day has brought some nifty little colorways.
I mixed all the dyes for my Hallucinogenic Lipstick!
Doctor Who fans will love this colorway.
Everyone loves a woman described as "hell in heels"!
The remake of Morgaine, Lady of the Lake, did not go so well.
The blue was not nearly pale enough for woad, and the red is deeper.
The red actually looks like blood as intended, yay!
I'll still mark it as this colorway, but issue a disclaimer to anyone who bought it previously.
Isla Tropicana, is a new colorway that turned out fantastic and amazing!
Has anyone ever seen the Glade Relaxing Moments Island Escape cans?
That is where I got the inspiration.
However, it doesn't quite look exactly like it.
There are two more colorways to come tomorrow.  (That's 2.5 pounds)
Then I'll be dyeing up close to three pounds of loose fleece and small bits of roving.
These will be for carding or for sale by the ounce.

Things I love about this business:
  1. creating something new
  2. exploring and experimenting
  3. sharing
  4. creating something from a creation (spinning and knitting)
This business makes me feel alive because it is full of passion for creation!
Through this I feel like a deity and creator of my own destiny.
It makes me who I am!
I love myself, and therefore I love God!

Have a happy weekend!

Netflix

I recently took up the offer of a free month of Netflix.
We're actually going to take it up for good.
I'm tired of paying $70+ for television.
We're going to pay $20+ some fees & taxes to pay for 3 dvds out at a time.
What's nice is our ability to change that down if needed.
After the last episode of V we'll be canceling the cable.
Our internet will remain the same. It's $40. Ugh!

Right now we're watching some 1973 Doctor Who instantly through the Wii.
I <3 my Wii. That sounds bad doesn't it.
LOL!
Either way, OMG! cheese. Save me from the cheese!
These purple monsters are like someone boiled plastic.

Speaking of Doctor Who, the new series starts on April 26th.
Thankfully Cast Tv broadcasts the new season for free on my laptop.
That's how we watched it last year.
BBC America screwed up the scheduling of episodes,
& do not play the full episodes on reruns. BLAH!
They still haven't gotten Sherlock over here yet.

Today I will be doing an update at the Artfire site.
There will be more of the TARDIS colorway & one new colorway.
It will not be a very large update, but it's okay.

Weekly Wallpaper Change

It's been late, but truly I haven't had a change for quite some time. Doctor Who backgrounds with some character and majesty are difficult to find. However, I've found one!

This one is a bit timy whimy, but what part of Doctor Who isn't? I am pysched for the new season. The teasers for Series 6 after the Christmas special doesn't make matters any easier, either. ::sigh::

Weekly Wallpaper...

I almost forgot! About two weeks back I changed my wallpaper. For now it's going to stay this way. If there is better then it must be found.

It's everyone of the 10th Doctor's companions! Yeah, buddy! Needless to say I am awaiting the Christmas Special the best any fan girl can. Impatiently drowning herself in everything Doctor Who to fill the void.

We're even going to decorate our Christmas tree in a Doctor Who fashion. We wanted to do it this year, but I don't have the time, money, nor energy. Next year we'll get to it. The T.A.R.D.I.S. will be the star. Of course, we will have some Daleks. My biggest project of all will be making a garland out of the scarf pattern for the 4th Doctor. It will be all knit. Matt Smith's Doctor ornament will be a combination of a fez and bow tie. The 10th Doctor's will be his coat. I'm still trying to decide what to do for the Master besides a drum set or a feast of food. If worse comes to worse we can always do a collage, cut, and then pasted on an ornament. So many ideas to go around. My goal is to create an online show and tell of the process. There will be many who will be most happy about it. The BBC, well maybe not so. Personally, then it's their fault for not marketing it in the first place.

If you have any suggestions to something that is better for a wallpaper, feel free to comment with a link.

Last night, I posted an update to the shop. Everything turned out wonderfully! If you haven't seen the wonders, it's time to.

Many of my colorways were influenced by World of Warcraft. My mind has been on the coming expansion known as Cataclysm. Unfortunately we won't be able to buy it until much later. Christmas is killing our finances. Conjurer, Unholy, and Abandonment are the three I can name off hand. However, Candied Yams could also be considered it as well. The Thanksgiving in game event is my favorite of all the holidays because it's the best time of year to level your cooking skills. One of the recipes is called Candied Yams. It is also the only time of year to throw food at other players. Killing the turkeys is fun, too. I want the achievement of Turkinator. Lol, yes the Turkinator.Winterveil is the second best holiday to level up your cooking skills. That's about 5 days away. There will be gingerbread cookies. :)

Anyways, we have snow. We have a Winter Storm Warning in affect. My friend, caitlinchris, has a Blizzard Warning. God speed to her, and may it not wander over here. The warnings are saying, do NOT travel. Ack! Needless to say I will not be going to work if that is what's going on.

That's the news! Have a great weekend, stay out of trouble, and have fun!
