Shop Update & More...

The first of many things, who won!?
The winner of the September giveaway is ::drum roll:: Little Miss S. Congratulations!! I'll be sending you a message shortly. Thank you for participating, everyone! Next giveaway will be next month. (Hint: Christmas is coming sooner than you think.) Yeah it might be a bit early, but have you ever seen a sheep dressed up as a pumpkin? Hmm...now this gives me pause. ::hamsters are turning the wheels in my head::
This past evening was the small shop update. I made the decision late in the game because of another doctor appointment and the events that followed. (Pinched nerve in my neck and back area required xrays. Groceries needed to be bought as well as prescription pick up.)
Grigoriy - SW BFL
In addition to the shop update, I've started a destash on Ravelry. There are some of my hand painted braids that didn't quite turn out the way I planned there as well as other dyers.

Oh, almost forgot to mention the sale going on at the shop. From now until 23:59 CDT on Sept. 23rd, there will be a roving and yarn sale. Buy one get the second half off on all roving. All yarn is 15% off.
This week I will be working on artwork for Peter's, my fiance's, shop called Storm Dragon Creations. He changed it, but I think it works out nicely. He'll be selling his own unique brand of stitch markers, row counters and jewelry. Be sure to read his item descriptions as they will be full of funnies, I'm sure.
Ecology & Me (part 2) will be coming very quickly. Thursday of this week, I will be joining a group of people in town to collect some Ratibida pinnata (Yellow cone flower) seed. My goal is to have some pictures taken during our lunch break for all of you to see.

Until then, have a wonderful weekend!

Sharing is caring

First, the winners of the last giveaway are mamatwitch and sillylittleladysspotontheweb. I was feeling very generous yesterday, and decided to give them both the giveaway. The next giveaway will be sometime this week. I'm waiting for the last parts of it to arrive in the mail. After that the giveaways are pretty much raring to go. October and November giveaways are going to be fantastic! I don't dare wait until December because it may be to late to ship for the holidays.

Secondly, here are two things that I want to share. They are little helpers that will bring you smiles on a cloudy day.

The first was given to me by an elderly man on one of my fifteen minute breaks. It's one of the most truest poems. Maybe I looked like I needed a hug that day.
The second was from my PartyLite Unit Leader, Michele Christidis. Michele was trying to motivate us to do what we've got to do to accomplish our show goals. These two beauties are hanging up on a cork board in my workspace area along with all the other nice notes from others. The images above are downloadable jpeg files for easy printing and posting. I hope that they lighten your day and inspire you to do what's needed to reach your hopes and dreams. Make a plan and follow through.

Get your nails did: Avon Giveaway

Hello again and welcome to another giveaway. This time it's a product that I absolutely love. My mother, Sheryl, sells Avon and hooked me on their speed dry nail polish. My favorite color is the Mambo Melon. Usually nail polish is ruined in 20 minutes with me, but not with the speed dry nail polish. It dries in 60 seconds and you're ready to go. This is by far one of my favorite products from Avon.

In this giveaway you get to choose your color as well as a glossy UV protecting top coat or length and strength base coat. Below the colors are listed for easy browsing.

"I'm five...I'm fine."

"Amy, why are you counting?" - Doctor
"No, I'm not." - Amy
"You just said, five." - Doctor
"No, I didn't." - Amy
"Yes, you did." - River

The winner of our last giveaway is (cue drum roll or current Dr. Who theme) Pixelated Mushroom. To the victor goes the spoils. Spoils being that sheepishly cute sheep pen, delightful dragon stitch markers and small sampler of handspun yarn. Congratulations!

For our next giveaway, stay tuned. You won't want to miss it. I hope to have it ready by mid August.
In other news:
  • The injections to my shoulder are helping! Yay! I was able to spin for a half hour without pain. Hooray, hooray, hooray! Friday, they will take x-rays of my neck and we will determine whether it's back to work.
  • As far as knitting goes, I've finished the first sleeve of Isabella's sweater and turning the heel on Uncle Glen's first sock. My first bit of knitting for today is going to be the gauge swatch for the Lady Sunshine Cardigan.
  • Peter made me breakfast in bed. He makes an awesome Dutch Pancake with warm cinnamon apple sauce. Oh yeah, I am in heaven.
  • In the wee hours of the morning I figured out how to better mix my dyes. However, it requires more and larger storage containers. That issue has been fixed. Ace Hardware carries Ball 1/2 gallon Wide Mouthed canning jars. I now have 12 of these puppies.

Busy Busy...

It just continues, but in such a great way! Laundry finished and put away, produce shopping done, dishes put away, the back half of Izzy's sweater knitted with front half being worked on and all destash boxes are packed awaiting labeling.

In the background I'm working another give-away opportunity for you all. Stay tuned for amazing details! Think Spongebob Squarepants and fibery goodness. Imagine it. :)

Then out of the blue I got a convo via Etsy regarding the second part of the sillylittlelady collaboration. Here is a sneak preview of the fingerless gloves to go with that fantastic Pagosa Slouch brimmed slouchy beanie. Isn't it lovely! Even better, sillylittlelady has made the length an option you the knitter decide. How cool is that?

So now here I sit at my computer relaxing for the first time. Praise the gods for air conditioning! It's after 8:30 PM here and it feels like 93 degrees outside. The wind is blowing, which is our only saving grace at this point. The weather is going to be even worse tomorrow, but alas more air conditioning. Praise the air conditioning gods! Hail thee "A" and "C"! Praise the electricity gods, as well. For it is they Com and Ed who provide A and C with the power to bring such wonders to us. They who graced Mr. Edison with the holy concept of electricy are great and masterful. Yeah, I've lost it. Must drink more water and get to some dishes and garbage/recycling collecting.

Another give-away

This give away will be more geared towards knitters. I have a sampling of some of my singles. It's a bit of superwash bfl. Second is a set of 5 stitch markers made by my fiance, Peter. They feature a dragon in the center. They are made to fit up to a size US 10 1/2 needle. Last, but not least a pen in the shape of a sheep's head. It lights up and bahs when it is pressed into the pen. Isn't it just cute. :)

To enter simply post a reply and wait until August 1st. On August 2nd I will pull a name from a hat and give you guys a hollar. Please, let me know what you think of Peter's stitch markers. Soon he'll be debuting his own shop called Dragon 'n Ewe.

As an added point of interest I will be having another shop update next week. It'll be a roving update. When the next shipment of ecru wool is received there will be another big update with more colorways.

Hope you enjoy and happy crafting!

Dye Day Challenge

Status: Complete

This day was a challenge because motivation was no where in sight. I mean no where. The past month as wiped me out completely. I've still got some residual effect going on, too. To try and perk me out of this funk dye day commenced with set up @ 10 a.m. Monday.

The main goal was to replicate my favorite colorway Jellyfishing. Goal was accomplished. Jellysfishing is going to be a permenant colorway from now on. It's not nearly as pretty in superwash as in regular wools. I attempted to do another Spongebob themed one and it didn't turn out as much as I liked...it might be a Mrs. Puff colorway. The other colorways really don't have any rhyme or reason, but we'll see what names I can come up with.

Don't forget that tomorrow is the last day to enter my July give-away. Well part one anyways. The unvieling of part two will be on July 16th. (Hopefully before I go to Midwest Fiber and Folk Art Festival.)

Something new on my blog is the Pepsi Refresh button. I urge you to help our native peoples and vote for this idea. The top two will win funding for their project. Right now we're at 74th place and voting ends on July 31st. I know we can help make a difference in these people's lives. Let's keep voting every day.

I started spinning up some batts on the Kromski Sonata this past Saturday at the Castle Gardens Nursery Craft/Antique/Flea Expo in Richmond. It's amazing how much differently the two wheels spin. It's like night and day. For now I am going back to the Sonata. I've been able to spin up two batts so far. There is still more work to be done. I'm blending two different batts together and there two more of each to go. This Saturday (7/17) I will be at the same location peddling my wares. The new colorways from this past dye day will be there and three new yarns. Also, I intend on setting up a better display than before. This expo is free to the public. If you're in the area, stop on by. We're in booth 18.

Hope you guys are having a cool day.

July Give-away

Let's kick off July with a give-away!

This give-away features a handmade wire orifice hook (by me). It is round semi-semi hard copper wire with several beads weaved in. It's approximately 6 to 7 inches long and perfect for any wheel spinner. Included in the deal is your choice of mini Japanese pencil erasers. These erasers and those rubber band animals are the latest and greatest fad of 2010. You can choose from the apples, dolphins or strawberries. If you would like to see a close of up of any pictures simply click them.

To enter for this simply make a comment on this post. A winner will be selected via random.org. They have an excellent third party drawing program. This drawing will end on July 15th, but there will be more to come.

On July 1st I'm going to be making a major shop update. If you would like to see a small preview there are several photos up on my Ravelry shop page
